HI,
Starting from Jan 2010 there are new rules for getting the prevailing wage info. The turn around time for this in worst case is 60 days. Do you happen to know if there is any way to expedite this.
Also do we have to go through DOL to get this info or can we use any other means.
Any information is highly appreciated.

First try to get a copy of your approved EB3 I-140 through FOIA request with USCIS, this could be a time consuming task. If you are lucky you might get this in 30 days. But heard in the forum that it was even lesser than 30 days they got a copy.
Once you have the copy of I-140, If by the EB3 PD, EB2 is current, then file I-485 with copy of both I-140 (EB3 and EB2) and request for interfiling( refer to my blog post) That is the best bet for you I see now.

If you currently have health insurance, you can continue it using COBRA in case of a layoff. With the recent stimulus bill, the premiums has been slashed by 65% for 9 months which is significant.

have you talked to a lawyer. If i am not wrong you have also used AC-21. Do you think revocation/withdrawal of the H-1B, will affect 485 in any way.

With your requirements, wihtout knowing more about what type of photography you're actually interested in, I'd say the Canon Rebel XT (EOS 350D) would be a good match with plenty of money to spare on buying some nice lenses. Nikon D70 is another option, in rougly the same price-range.

The 20D has the same sensor and other major features, but it's got a bigger buffer and is slightly faster on "multishot", so if you're into shooting fast sequences, that would be the way to go. You're looking at the better part of a grand to buy the 20D house only, so unless you're particularly after this feature, there's little reason to go for the 20D, the XT will do everything else just fine.
When it comes to "Upgrading to professional", I think you'll find that the Canon and Nikon both have a range of lenses, and a few camera bodies. The camera body will be one side of "how professional" the equipment is, and the lenses will be the other side. The general principle here is that you can easily spend 3-4 times more on lenses than you do on the camera body, so lenses are probably going to be your major outlay in the long term, whether you are an amateur, professional or in-between. [I for instance have a few "professional" lenses, but not all of my lenses are that level, and I don't own a pro camera body].

US Media standards reached a new low with their double-standards in covering the Iranian election protests. Looks like US media wants to manipulate their citizens with one-sided information and only those news that media DECIDES are in the interest of the people.
Why is US bothered about the protests in Iran regarding elections? BBC, CNN and other media is flaming those young protester's passions. If you see the comments on these news sites, they all come from Iranians under 25 yrs..everyone knows that is hot-blood age and people take defeat to heart. Media is showing this as a civil war :D
How about the civil war in Iraq? How about the protests of Indian students in Australia and the racial attacks on them? How about the recent massacre of tamilians in SriLanka?
Afterall, US media is no different than third-world mafia which can go to any extent to SELL their version..hopefully people have not yet forgotten about the WMD in Iraq :D
US Media should take care of the domestic issues in US rather than posting biased news and flaming young adults in other countries...

Maybe I'm way off, but I kind of like the Done for the Day the best.
The problem with that is I don't think it best represents and displays the Ice Fishing contest as an interesting winter event (like the contest wants).
The ones you guys like probably do do a better job of that.

when someone working in DC, VA, MD etc says that they will try to make it to the rally because it is on a working day. Come on, give us a break because multiple people are flying from the west coast.
Move your a$$ and get to the rally. You have made enough ruses about not being able to attend the rally.

NOPE. Canadian citizen can visit the USA without a visa.But to work, you need either a TN visa or plain old H1-B and go through the whole EB drama as usual.

Finally, I am current now, I spoke to IO today again ( Again means I call them every month, every week atleast once & So far I got Nice IO's)

I am not sure how you are seeing 14000 EB3 visa in totals. If you look at the table that says India, there are approx 8000 visas or so around Dec 02 for India alone. In addition, I believe the country quota is 7% and not 10% but I could be mistaken on that.
Since you would get approx 3000 EB3 visa's every year, that is why the PD is not moving.

We just applied for a student loan and got approved. Here are a few things we found out during the course of applying for the loan.
The only difference between you applying while on H1 vs. as PR/Citizen are the interest rates. Also if you are a PR/Citizen you qualify for a federal Stafford loan, which has the least interest rate and the best terms.
If you are on H1 and you can get a PR/Citizen as a co-signer you can qualify for other private loans with lower interests than without a co-signer. The only issue with having a co-signer is that it their credit report is going to reflect the loan and could impact their credit worthiness.
You [& co-signer] will have to send documents proving you are legal in this country. You need to fax - first page of passport, H1 approval, PR card [if you claim you are a PR]
PS: Not all companies give Student loans to Non-Citizens or Non-PR's. While on H1 the best deal we found was at http://www.accessgroup.org/

In one of my friend's case they approved H1 for 6 months, because he had contract only for 6 months. He just completed 3 years and this is his first extension request. :eek: Who the hell in this world writes contract for more than 6 months even if they have requirements for next 2 years.
Another case I heard was immigration officer at POE granted only 1 year I-94 even though he had 2 years left in his visa. It seems IO spoke to candidates manager and advised him to hire someone locally and get him trained within a year.
